Finished!

Done! Finally! Well 2.0, it's been a fun ride. I hope to continue with my blog, but for now I am going to bask in my accomplishment. :)

Sites for Students

This week wasn't as much fun as some of the other 2.0 projects. I'm not a student...but some of it could still work for me. I toured Backpack, which could be neat for big projects, especially ones that my husband and I are both working on. It would definitely be great for students, maybe to keep track of projects. I also checked out Jobster. No, I'm not looking for a new job, but my husband is, so no crying for fear of losing me. I liked that you didn't HAVE to sign up for anything to look at jobs, and get all the info, at least on the ones that I looked at. Like I haven't signed up for enough stuff since 2.0!

I think the best use would be for us to decide which sites are the best and easiest to use from our computers (so not the site that you have to download, but I don't remember which one it was) and put links on our website. That's all I could think of, but there are more brilliant people out there than me.

Tweet tweet?

Twitter is weird. Kinda cool, but mostly weird. I toyed with it, and I suppose it could be interesting as I get more into it. It might be neat to know what my friends are up to all the time, what they're thinking. And since the tweets are short it's not hard to think of what to say, so I could easily build up my fan base, and keep them entertained all the time. :) This is another of those 2.0 things that I'll have to toy with.

Very interesting, 2.0....

Social Networking

I've already been a part of Myspace for a while now. I like the new way of social networking. It's helped me get in touch with old friends, and stay in touch. I'm VERY bad at calling people, so being able to socialize online has been great for me. Facebook looks very similar to Myspace, but since you can search for people without being a member, I've already been able to find friends that are not on Myspace, so I may just have to sign up (once my computer is better).

I think that libraries are good at keeping up with technology, as they should. How else are you going to get tech savvy teenagers to come in, or take part in activities? The world is changing, and luckily libraries are trying to keep up with it, which is essential to our survival.

Wikis again

I do not care for wikis! It's too stressful! What do you put on there? Will people like it? Will someone erase it! Eeek!! Not fun! I suppose for some people it would be a lot of fun...but not for me!

Anyway, Dan and I put a picture of our front door on our branch (Port Orchard) wiki. Nothing major, especially since our branches wiki is already pretty awesome (kudos to those of you who did ALL that work). It did take us a little while to figure out how to do it right. You know, so it would be pretty. I suppose that would be the only way a wiki could be fun for me, since I used to be a photographer and all (I think I've mentioned that once or twice in my blogs). Without threats, or some sort of benefit, that is probably the only thing I would ever contribute to a wiki.

Wikis are Weird!

Wikis could be really cool...for some people. I just don't know how involved I would be in something like that. It's a lot of pressure!! You want to make sure what you put on there is perfect...and if it isn't, well, anyone can see your mistakes! Eeep! I have no ideas for KRL. My mind goes completely blank. A wiki about the area might be neat, like what to do, where to eat, that kind of stuff. Or a book recommendation wiki, but I don't really know how that might go. People could recommend books and why they like them, or something. I don't know...I think I'm just sleepy.

Yeah, sleep sounds good....

But I have to work!!! Aaagh!!!

My computer is EVIL!!

It won't let me watch videos tonight!! It keeps freezing up...stupid, evil computer...

Anyway, You Tube...ah, I love You Tube. Of course, it has only served one purpose for me. It exists only to make me laugh. If I'm having a bad day...if I'm having a good day...it's there to get me through. And when my computer is not being a jerk I could spend HOURS laughing with You Tube. If only tonight were one of those nights...

I don't know if this video counts as "library related" or not, but it's set IN a library, and it's a video, so isn't that really all that matters? Anyway, it's this AWESOME Japanese game show that was introduced to me at work. As I was looking for library videos I decided to just skip ahead and type "library funny" to see what I would get. And up comes this game show...I can't wait until my computer is in a better mood, because I really want to watch the second half of this.

Funny Japanese Video!

Please watch, I'm sure you'll enjoy.

Then of course there's my FAVORITE You Tube video. It's a lovely little cartoon about Charlie the unicorn and his adventure to Candy Mountain. My goal in life is to share this video with as many people as I can. I laughed SO HARD!!

Special thanks to the letter Y. :)

Finally, the bookcart drill teams, wow. If only our bookcarts were empty for long enough....I suppose we can only dream...
